Environmental Protection Shouldn’t Be a Partisan Issue

It’s sad to know that we live in such a polarized country that everything becomes partisan. We have rarely seen bipartisan bills coming out of Congress in recent years. Even if some of them manage to get enough votes, the President ends up vetoing them. Whether it’s about economic policies or social issues, the country is severely divided.

Of these problems, one issue shouldn’t divide the country at all – environmental protection. Your party shouldn’t tell you that it’s not a good thing to protect the environment. It’s a serious issue, and it has to involve everyone, regardless of party affiliation.

It doesn’t even matter if you believe in climate change or not. The point is for you to help in saving the environment. If you have a religion, it probably tells you to become a steward of God’s creations. Therefore, you have to find a way to be a part of the solution.

Fund environmental protection programs

Several programs need funding. These include animal conservation, forest protection, reforestation, and many others. You can’t think of any argument against these policies. Their primary goal is to save the environment, and no one ends up losing with the implementation of these programs.

Yes, there are projects that could divide people, like coal mining. Coal can damage the environment, but it also provides jobs to thousands of people. Perhaps, there needs to be a more serious debate about that issue, but it doesn’t have to be on all environment-related programs.

It doesn’t matter where you’re from

Whether you live on the coast or in the middle of the country, you can’t escape a disaster once nature strikes. Therefore, you can’t let your party define whether or not you should save the environment. If you don’t want to suffer from disasters, you have to do something now. You still have time to change and preserve the world for the future of your children.

Start at home

You don’t need to wait for major government policies to act. You can start at home or in your local community. Create a compost pit where the entire neighborhood can deposit scraps. Biodegradable trash can turn into fertilizer through this pit. You also have to label your bins so you can have one for recyclables. You can use those items again. You could seek help from Evergreen Junk Removal if you’re too busy for waste management at home. The things you do at home might be simple, but they can do wonders for the environment. You can also imagine what would happen if a lot of people do the same thing.

It’s sad that our country keeps having problems because we can’t agree on anything. We start to fight with each other on all issues instead of agreeing on reasonable policies. It might stay this way for a long time, and it could take a while to heal the divisions. However, the environment can’t wait, and it needs your action now.
