Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions 

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  2. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, and oregano. Cook for another minute.
  3. Add the chicken broth, crushed tomatoes, peanut butter, dark chocolate, salt, and sugar. Stir well.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Use a blender to puree the sauce until smooth. Return to the pot and simmer for another 15 minutes.
