Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in the marinara sauce, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti pasta, ricotta cheese, and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer half of the pasta mixture on top of the sauce. Add another layer of meat sauce, followed by the remaining pasta mixture. Top with the remaining meat sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let the baked ziti cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
