  • 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and ½ cup of the sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining ½ cup of sugar.
  4. Add the milk and melted butter to the flour mixture and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish. Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the crust comes out clean.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
