  • 4 green tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. Slice the green tomatoes into ¼ inch thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk and egg together.
  4. Dip each tomato slice into the buttermilk mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry the tomato slices until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
