Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cans Crushed Tomatoes (28 oz each)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar (optional, to taste)

Instructions 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  5. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Add sugar if the sauce is too acidic.
  7. Serve hot over pasta or use as a base for other dishes.
