- 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Topping
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cold butter cut into pieces
1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the bread cubes in the dish.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread.
3. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the bread mixture.
5. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set. Serve warm.
