Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add warm water, mixing until dough forms a ball.
On a floured surface, knead dough until smooth, about 5 minutes.
Roll out dough to ⅛-inch thickness. Cut into 3-inch squares.
Heat oil in a frying pan to 375°F (190°C). Fry squares until golden brown, turning once.
Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with honey or powdered sugar.
