Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Andouille sausage sliced
  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 cup Bell pepper chopped
  • 1 cup Celery chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • ½ cup Flour
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil
  • 4 cups Chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pcs Bay leaves
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • ¼ cup Green onions chopped, for garnish
  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the flour and stir constantly to make a roux, cooking until it turns a dark brown color.
  2. 2. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and celery to the roux. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  3. 3. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. 4. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Add the sausage, Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the shrimp and cook until they are pink and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. 6. Serve the gumbo over rice and garnish with green onions and parsley.
