Instructions
1. In a large pot, combine split peas, ham bone, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, chicken broth, and water.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
3. Remove ham bone, chop any meat left on the bone, and return meat to the pot.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
