Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove leaves from cabbage and blanch in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Place a small amount of meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold in sides and roll up.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
  6. Spread a thin layer of sauce mixture on the bottom of a baking dish. Place cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish. Pour remaining sauce over the rolls.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
